Concrete Framing for Weingart Center Supportive Housing Goes Skyward

Hunter Kerhart Architectural Photograph

Concrete framing is taking shape at the new supportive housing complex at 555 S. Crocker Street in downtown Los Angeles. Once complete, the 19 story tower will hold the title as the largest supportive housing complex in L.A.'s history.

The $164-million project is located next to the Weingart Center's headquarters and replaces what was previously a surface parking lot. The tower is projected to consist of 278 studio and 1 bedroom apartments, 3 manager units, on-site supportive services, a cafeteria, and underground parking for 15 vehicles.

The project is not the only supportive housing the Weingart Center is planning for the area. The non-profit is pushing forward with designs on a 12-story building on an adjoining site as well as another 19-story high rise on a property across the street.
