Ransomware Attacks Hit Hardest in Construction Industry
The internet security company, Nordlocker, released a report identifying the top 35 industries victimized by ransomware attacks and construction is at the top of the list.
Nordlocker suggests, "Most successful attacks might be left undisclosed," and that many construction companies could be unwilling to report the breaches and simply pay the hackers. Nordlocker compiled the data from the hackers themselves and the information they were attempting to sell.
Construction may be the hardest hit because as Tiago Henriques, director of security engineering at cybersecurity insurance company Coalition, says, "Construction companies are typically in a set of companies that have no technical (IT/Security) teams, which makes them more vulnerable to cyberattacks."
