Environmental Report Provides Insight Into West Harbor Development Updates
A recent environmental study from the Port of Los Angeles details updates to the West Harbor development, now under construction in San Pedro. The project, led by Jerico Development and Ratkovich Co., is transforming the former Ports O' Call Village into a 42-acre site with around 200,000 square feet of retail and dining spaces.
The first phase will feature tenants such as immersive art experience Hopscotch, Harbor Breeze Cruises, Poppy + Rose, King and Queen Cantina, Mike Hess Brewing, and Mario's Neighborhood Butcher Shop & Delicatessen.
In the second phase, plans include a 175-foot Ferris wheel and other attractions like a double-decker carousel, wave swings, and a drop tower. New tenants anticipated in this phase include Yamashiro, Miller Butler, Coffee with Creme & Sugar, and Oakberry Acai, with additional offerings such as pickleball and padel courts.
A new amphitheater, managed by the Nederlander Organization, will anchor the complex's southern end. Spanning approximately 108,000 square feet on the waterfront, it will feature a 50,000-square-foot lawn with seating for 6,200 visitors, plus a 22,000-square-foot area for restrooms and concessions.
The Los Angeles Times also noted that the developers reached an agreement for the San Pedro Fish Market to stay on-site, despite its earlier plans to relocate to a new $140-million complex nearby.
According to the environmental study, construction of the amphitheater and Ferris wheel is expected to take about 15 months, starting as soon as 2025. The budget for the first two phases of the project is estimated at $200 million.
