Exposition Park Interim Housing Breaks Ground

LOHA

Wellnest, a service provider and developer, has initiated construction on a new temporary housing facility in Exposition Park designed for transition age youth. Named The Nest on Exposition, this development will replace a surface parking lot just west of the intersection of Exposition Boulevard and Vermont Avenue.

It will consist of 25 apartments, each averaging around 300 square feet, along with amenities such as a laundry facility, service provider offices, and community rooms.

The architectural firm LOHA is responsible for designing The Nest, depicted in conceptual images as a modern four-story building featuring corrugated metal cladding.

Funding comes from an allocation to Los Angeles County via Project Homekey and the project's original aim was to accommodate youth from foster care and juvenile probation systems.

Sixteen of the apartments were designated for participants in the L.A. County Department of Children and Family Services Transitional Housing Program Plus.

Wellnest's projects extend beyond the Exposition Park endeavor; they also have plans for permanent supportive housing on Jefferson Boulevard in Historic South-Central.
