L.A. Clippers Finally Have Their New Home
The Los Angeles Clippers now have a dedicated home of their own. On Friday, Bruno Mars headlined the first event at Intuit Dome to kick things off for the team’s brand-new $2 billion arena in Inglewood.
Situated at the southeast corner of Century Boulevard and Prairie Avenue, the 18,000-seat venue is the centerpiece of a larger complex that includes new team offices, a training facility, a sports medicine center, and 63,000 square feet of retail space. A 150-room hotel is also planned for future development.
Designed by AECOM, the arena stands about 150 feet tall with an elliptical design inspired by the pattern of a basketball net. Inside, a 40,000-square-foot halo board, containing a quarter billion LED lights, hovers above the arena bowl. The concourse features a display showcasing jerseys from high school basketball teams across California.
The entrance is adorned with public artworks by Patrick Martinez, Kyungmi Shin, and Michael Massenburg, welcoming visitors along Century and Prairie. Once inside, guests can view a sculpture by Glenn Kaino and digital art by Refik Anadol. The arena itself serves as an artistic canvas, with Jennifer Steinkamp's "Swoosh" illuminating the exterior of Intuit Dome, animating through the structure's geometric patterns.
The Clippers are set to play their first game in the new arena at the start of the 2024-2025 NBA season. Intuit Dome is located within walking distance of a planned transit system that will connect Sofi Stadium to Metro's K Line. This future 1.6-mile elevated people mover is expected to open in 2030.
